Well it looks like I've picked up yet another hobby. I fell in love with Amigurumi when I first saw it at Youmacon last year and I've been trying to teach myself the finer points of this adorable craft since the new year. I'm now debating, though, if I should make a separate DA account for the Amigurumi and keep this one strictly for my traditional artworks. Then again, I don't even know if DA allows multiple accounts per person. :/ Anyone have any idea if this is allowed or not?

It's a time-consuming hobby, but one that I've found is very rewarding. There's no better feeling than looking on a finished piece after spending hours to crochet and stitch all the tiny pieces together. :)

Any suggestions on what I can make next are appreciated! I will do my best to make them, though still learning, might have to put a few on the back burner :)

Art Theft?

1 min read
Is it considered theft if another artist recreates your work without crediting your original piece?

My piece: xbrightwingx.deviantart.com/ar…

His piece: fav.me/d56t6n1

I'm not sure if I should be angry or flattered. From what I've been seeing, this guy has been taking pieces from artists all over DA, recreating them, and failing to post links or crediting the original artists. I don't mind if someone wants to recreate something I've done. I've always said, people "copy" things they like and I appreciate people liking my work. But it bothers me when someone doesn't credit the artist who made the original.

Am I wrong in my thinking? Or am I justified?

Thoughts?

Just found out that a person very close to me died last night. It's one of those times where you just don't know what to think or do. Can't stop crying or thinking about it...

But on an art note, a few weeks ago I won an award for the Giraffe painting at a local art exhibit and I have my own month to put on my own show. February 2013 is the month of reckoning. Hopefully I'll have enough pieces to work with :)

New Website

Hello All!

Jumping in for a little to spread the news about my new website. It's nothing big, but it's another way to promote my work. It's from freewebs.com so I'm trying to do what I can with it, but yeah XD

www.animalartsandportraits.webs.com

Check it out and see what ya think!

Also, had a new watcher point out a new art sharing site: shadowness.com.

If anyone has an account there and wants to follow me, feel free to do so:

shadowness.com/xbrightwingx

I think that's all!

Until next time,

I'm going to have to offer an apology to those who were looking forward to the Wild Dog and Okapi paintings. Don't worry, I'm still painting them, but one more painting has come up before them.

My best friends birthday is in mid July and when I asked what she wanted for her birthday, she said a painting from me of whatever animal I wanted :)

I wasn't expecting that and it made me really happy to hear her ask for that. :w00t!:

So I decided to start a painting of a red fox, since foxes and wolves are some of her favorite animals, and foxes hold a special place in both our hearts. More than likely, I'll be finishing that one before the Cheetah since the Cheetah's owner isn't in a hurry to have it.

I'm hoping she'll like it, and I'm hoping that I'll have enough time to finish it before her birthday. This summer has been so busy it's hard to find time to paint!

Sooooooo. Keep in touch and keep an eye out for the Wild Dog and Okapi. They're still happening! :D

:blowkiss:
